Despite clear evidence to the contrary in recent videos, New York Magazine Donald Trump claims to be “bad at golf.”
Matt Steve, a writer who is not a sports reporter, article Titled Tuesday; Trump may actually be bad at golf.In it, Steve attacks the former president’s game, focusing on Trump’s unconventional swing and especially his putting, despite video evidence.
But to claim that Trump is a “bad golfer,” Steve ended up talking only about Trump’s form, not his performance. Steve ignored the video evidence that Trump was able to place the ball in good position on the green multiple times, ignored the long putts he sank, and ignored the surprising praise from pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau in a video series featuring Trump.
Plus, to continue his partisan criticism of Trump, Steve had to ignore the fact that Trump scored the best DeChambeau score of anyone ever. Breaking 50 YouTube video series.
Trump speaks to LIV’s Bryson DeChambeau.
“Do you think Biden can do that? Can you believe it after all the arguing about golf?”

In fact, his putting seems to be the only reason left-wing writers declare Trump a “bad golfer.” Steve claims that “just take a look at his putting game” and the mystery of Trump’s golfing prowess is solved. Then Steve exclaims, “Trump’s short game is really bad.”
Steve adds:
In a sport as delicate as golf, everyone has bad days. But Trump’s putting form suggests this might not be a one-off. The former president jerks and flicks his wrist just as the putter strikes the ball. In the worst of these attempts, he misses what is clearly a very good shot. If that day was any indication, his odd form means he routinely misses to the left. “It’s not that I miss badly,” he says after multiple misses. Maybe no one is brave enough to tell the former president he’s wrong.
However, as I am not a sports journalist, my opinions have not been verified by others.
For example, Steve’s claim that Trump is cheating on the links Refuted By professional golfer John Daly.
daily Sit Daly hosted a golf tournament with Rich Eisen in 2016, during which he claimed Trump was a pretty good amateur golfer. When Eisen asked about cheating, Daly denied the allegations and said that if people wanted a president who would cheat at golf, they should look to Bill Clinton.
The five-time PGA Tour winner recently told Tucker Carlson that Trump is pretty good, but that his chipping could use some work.
“We need to work on his chipping a bit more,” Daly said. Said “Trump plays great, but he hits good shots and putts well. I need to work on my chipping. If I don’t see him for a while, my bad habits come back. I chip like Tiger and Phil.” [when I’m coaching him].”
DeChambeau, a two-time major champion, was amazed by Trump’s ability — in fact, Trump’s score of 50 was the highest score he’d seen in a “Break 50” series he watched on YouTube.
210 yards into the wind, Donald Trump hits it to 4 feet for an unassisted eagle. translator Unbelievable. A 45 year old can definitely play! This is one of the most entertaining games. https://t.co/4wkL6PzmY7 pic.twitter.com/9PwKCHNkZH

“This is pretty amazing,” a shocked DeChambeau said in the video, “I didn’t expect this.”
Admittedly, Trump’s putting style isn’t what the pros would call “optimal,” but the former president (who, it should be noted, is not a professional golfer) seems to be using all of that to his advantage. Matt Steve’s boasting aside, Trump has rightly impressed several actual professional golfers with his play.
