Newsom files a lawsuit against the Trump administration regarding the use of the National Guard.

California is set to sue the Trump administration over the weekend in an effort to mobilize National Guard troops in Los Angeles County, as announced by the state’s Democratic leaders on Monday.

Attorney General Rob Bonta expressed in a statement that President Trump misused his powers by invoking Title 10 provisions, which typically allow for the mobilization of the National Guard during times of invasion or rebellion. Bonta remarked, “President Trump’s order to call federal National Guard troops to Los Angeles, despite opposition from local governors and law enforcement, is not only unnecessary but also counterproductive.”

Gavin Newsom, a Democratic figure, mentioned in his statement that Trump’s actions contributed to the unrest by deploying troops unnecessarily to protect federal assets. Local law enforcement was reportedly managing the situation before the President’s intervention caused further turmoil. Bonta emphasized that California was not facing any invasion or rebellion, suggesting that the protests in Los Angeles County, which were sparked by immigration raids, were being handled appropriately.

Bonta noted that the President is, perhaps, trying to create a sense of chaos for his own political gain. He hinted at the potential motivations behind these actions, which could lead to further conflicts on the ground.

The California Attorney General’s Office has stated that details regarding the lawsuits against the administration will be released soon.

This is an ongoing story, and updates are expected.
