It appears that Shedeur Sanders is not the only person to “torpedo” his NFL draft chances.
Speaking to the previous Colorado quarterback’s stunning slide over the weekend in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Browns grabbed him in issue 144 overall, with Boomer Essiason claiming Monday that 23-year-old Sanders was not on the draft board at the discretion of unnamed ownership.
“If you hear this kid’s story before or at the combine, if you want a new culture in the locker room, I can start it over. Esiason said Monday About WFAN’s “Boomer & Gio.”
“I’m telling you now. After talking to three different people in the NFL this weekend, they didn’t put him on the board. They took him off and the owner said, “Take him off, I don’t want that guy.”
In the months leading up to the draft, Sanders roared over comments made at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
“We went from Jackson to Colorado and changed two programs in a row,” Sanders said at the Combine. “You don’t think you can come to the NFL franchise and change the program again? That’s history. That’s always going to be repeated.”
Sanders was once predicted to go to the early rounds of this year’s draft, but he had to wait until the final day of the third and receive a life-changing call from the Browns, who had already landed Oregon QB Dilongabriel on Friday’s third round night.
Beyond the quarterback, “Only torpedoes[ing] His own on the pre-draft process” added Monday quarterback’s father, Hall of Fame Deion Sanders, “didn’t help,” and in particular “didn’t help.” When he joked about his family pulling “Eli”; Nodded to Ellimanning, who forced a draft trade from the Chargers to the Giants in 2004.
It was a roller coaster draft experience for Sanders’ family as the quarterback fell victim to a plank caller who posed to represent the NFL team.
Jacks Ulbric, the 21-year-old son of Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbric, was involved and later announced an apology.
Only two quarterbacks were filmed in the first round of this year’s draft, with Camward taking first place overall and Jackson Dart being selected 25th by the Giants.
Sanders also linked to the Steelers and Saints, both drafting quarterbacks.
He and Gabriel join the busy quarterback room, which includes Joe Flaco, Kenny Pickett and Desshaun Watson.
Sanders’ brother, Safety Shiro Sanders, was not drafted and later signed with the Buccaneers.
