NFL Star Travis Kelce Focused on ‘Grotesquerie’ Acting Role Ahead of His Dismal NFL Season Start

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce stepped out of the Hollywood spotlight during the recent offseason, focusing on an acting career in Los Angeles before getting off to a terrible start in his NFL career.

Following his Super Bowl 55 win, Kelsey sought out six-time Emmy Award-winning writer and director Ryan Murphy and continued to pursue acting work during the NFL offseason.

According to VarietyMurphy initially said Kelsey said she would have the NFL player in mind if something came up, but it looks like Taylor Swift's boyfriend played the privilege card and demanded that Murphy find something immediately.

“No, I want to do it now. I've got three months left, I want to do whatever it takes,” Kelsey reportedly said when Murphy said he had the football star in mind.

So Murphy decided to give Kelsey a chance by casting her in a limited series crime drama for FX. grotesqueMurphy was co-producing and directing the film at the time.

“I own the role, and if you're interested, I'll write it specifically and tailor it to you,” Murphy told Kelsey, revealing an added perk the actor enjoys in Hollywood.

Kelsey accepted the role and Murphy was delighted with the result.

Of the series' star, Niecy Nash Betts, Murphy said, “Niecy and I immediately fell in love with him and took him by the hand and taught him that you can't fail, you can't fail. He was just amazing. He worked with an acting coach for months. He worked right to the script. He knew everybody's lines. He was very professional. He was very dedicated.”

Added Murphy, “He showed up exactly to the script. He knew everybody's lines. Very professional. Very dedicated. He kept telling me, 'I'm coachable, please coach me, please coach me,' so I did. And he ended up being a great guy. I look forward to continuing to work with him on this and other things. I can't say enough about him as a leader. He's such a sweet, gentle guy. … Everything you think about him is true.”

Nash Betts on the Emmy Awards red carpet said Fans will be seeing “a lot” of Kelsey in the 10-episode limited series. people The magazine reported: “I think viewers are going to love his performance in the series. He's done a really great job,” she said.

The acclaim for Kelce's Hollywood debut stands in stark contrast to the start of the 2024 NFL season, where he has struggled to maintain his status as a star player with the Chiefs. Through the first three weeks of the NFL season, Kelce has just eight receptions for 69 yards and zero touchdowns.

His declining performance has led many to accuse him of “jetting around the world” with Taylor Swift instead of focusing on his real job of playing professional football. Even sports commentator Stephen A. Smith has advised Kelsey to stay away from his frivolous Swift-ness and focus on football.

grotesque It will premiere on FX on September 25th.
