Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to score Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black | Music

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are set to score the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black.

The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, who started out as a visual artist and then went on to become a director, having previously worked on Nowhere Boy (screenwriter Matt Greenhalgh wrote the screenplay for Back to Black). He directed “Fifty Shades of Gray” and “A Million Little Pieces.”

She said: “Nick and Warren were the only musicians who composed ‘Back to Black’ in my head. Over the years, I listened to every piece they composed and loved working with them. Their sensibilities and understanding of this story have created a deep and moving film score.”

Cave and Ellis are long-time collaborators, working with Nick Cave on the Bad Seeds dating back more than 30 years. They later formed another group, the Grindermen, and produced films such as The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Proposition, The Road, and most recently Marilyn, starring Ana de Armas.・He has composed music for numerous films, including the Monroe biopic “Blonde.”
