Nicki Minaj has expressed her gratitude to President Donald Trump for highlighting the plight of Christians in Nigeria.
Trump noted the severe crisis Christians are facing in Nigeria, stating that thousands have been killed and Islamic extremists are largely to blame for such acts. He emphasized that the U.S. cannot remain passive while atrocities occur and pledged support for Christians worldwide.
Minaj, a vocal advocate of her Christian beliefs, shared her appreciation for Trump’s words. She mentioned feeling a profound sense of thankfulness upon reading his statement and emphasized the importance of respecting different faiths, even if one doesn’t share those beliefs.
She continued by acknowledging the widespread fear affecting many countries and pointed out the dangers of turning a blind eye to these issues. Her message ended with a call to pray for persecuted Christians.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Walz, commended Minaj for her advocacy, stressing the necessity for unity among Christians and the urgent need to address the ongoing violence.
The situation for Christians in Nigeria is alarming, with reports of entire villages being destroyed and worshippers attacked during services, leaving many displaced.
Mark Walker, a nominee for international religious freedom, reiterated the severity of the crisis, estimating thousands of annual Christian casualties due to ongoing violence from various extremist groups, and urged the Nigerian government to take more decisive action.
President Trump announced he has tasked lawmakers with investigating the situation in Nigeria, and he intends to classify the country as a “Country of Special Concern.” This designation indicates the government condones severe violations of religious freedom, according to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
The House Appropriations Committee remarked that Nigeria poses significant dangers for Christians, who face kidnapping and violence simply for their faith. They supported Trump’s announcement, declaring that religious persecution will not be tolerated and signaling a commitment to combat religious extremism.
The committee also expressed their intent to finalize the budget aimed at prioritizing these issues once the government shutdown resolves.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach Minaj’s representatives for a response but did not receive one immediately.
