The extreme bullying Adriana Cucci experienced at her New Jersey school that ultimately led to her suicide didn’t stop at the school’s doorstep. Rather, her family claims in the lawsuit, it continued at her home.
Cucci was 14 years old and a student in the Central Regional School District when she took her own life on February 3, 2023. The video of her assault, which went viral online, was reportedly shared just two days ago. fox news digital.
However, the aftermath of the incident did not stop there. During Adriana’s funeral on February 10, Superintendent Triantafilos Parlapanides, who has since resigned, reportedly made “derogatory” comments about Adriana’s father to journalists.
Parlapanides claimed that Adriana’s father was having an affair, which ultimately led to her mother’s suicide. He then shared Adrianna’s mental health struggles with reporters, according to the complaint.
The lawsuit goes on to say that instead of ensuring Adrianna’s safety from “known” bullies, the New Jersey district’s careless actions were “intentional, wanton, reckless, premeditated, malicious,” to the Cucci family. He claimed that it was completely ignored.
Adriana was attacked by a group of students in the school hallway, and at least one student recorded the tragic incident and uploaded it to social media. The video went viral soon after it was posted. The students who assaulted the students punched Adriana in the face, hit her with a water bottle, pulled her hair, and kicked her while other students laughed and encouraged the bullies. .
Adriana suffered bruises, swelling, cuts and lacerations to her head, legs and body, according to the complaint. The students involved in the incident were charged with third-degree felony assault, Blaze News previously reported.
Although the physical injuries were serious, Adriana appears to have suffered shame and ridicule after the footage went viral. Her feelings persisted for several days, until the night of February 3, when her father found her hanging in her bedroom.
William Kreis, the Cucci family’s attorney, said the family had suffered “tremendous heartache and tragedy,” adding, “The gross negligence of school officials and the subsequent cruel, insensitive, and defamatory comments by the superintendent have affected them. It only adds to the suffering of others.”
“It is the defendant’s job to provide a safe and secure environment for the students of Central Regional High School,” Kreis added.
“They catastrophically failed Adrianna, causing her emotional distress, humiliation and embarrassment, and ultimately causing her to take her own life. The school and its officials are held accountable for their actions. The time has come.”
