A special education teacher at a New Jersey middle school has been arrested after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student, authorities said.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office made the announcement Saturday. press release Allison Habemann-Niedlach, 43, was arrested without incident earlier this week. Prosecutors said Habemann-Niedlach was charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Haveman Niedlach is a teacher at Freehold Middle School teaching grades 6-8.

The teacher describes herself as: “A passionate, results-driven, and conscientious educator. Calm, competent, and thrives in a results-driven environment. Has a ‘do what it takes’ work ethic and a proven track record of truly differentiated instruction.”
An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Freehold Police Department indicates Haveman Niedlach began sexually abusing the student earlier this year, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.
Law enforcement officials did not disclose the age of the alleged victim or whether he was a student at Haveman Niedlach High School.
Freehold Borough School District Superintendent Asia Michael sent an email to staff and parents about the arrest of what was described as a “former school staff member.”
“We are saddened to share this difficult news with you,” the email said. Asbury Park Press“We have been notified that a former employee has been arrested on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault and inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor.”
Michael added, “Please be assured that our district has cooperated fully with prosecutors since the beginning of their investigation. The safety and health of our students and staff is our top priority, and we took immediate steps to ensure their protection.”
“My client maintains his innocence at this time. I have no further comment,” said Haveman-Niedlach’s lawyer, Thomas Foote.
Haveman Niedlach was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility, where he is expected to remain until his initial appearance and detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday in Monmouth County Superior Court, the release said.
