Trump Announces Successful Operation in Venezuela
On Saturday, President Donald Trump revealed that no U.S. soldiers were harmed and no military equipment was lost during the operation to capture former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
Speaking at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago, Trump provided updates on what he called Operation Absolute Solution, just hours after announcing that the U.S. military had carried out a significant strike against Venezuela as part of the mission to apprehend Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
“They were prepared for us; they were in a state of readiness,” Trump stated, adding that the opposing forces were “completely overwhelmed and quickly neutralized.” He shared his emotional reaction to the events, saying, “If you had seen what I saw last night, you would have been so moved. It was incredible.”
The president reiterated that the operation did not result in any American casualties or equipment loss. “Not a single American service member was killed, not a single piece of American military equipment was lost. We involved a lot of helicopters, a lot of planes, and a lot of people in that battle,” he explained.
He continued, “Just think about it. More importantly, not a single service member was killed. The U.S. military is the most powerful and formidable military on earth, with capabilities beyond what our adversaries can imagine.”
Trump expressed gratitude to the military personnel involved, highlighting their swift and precise execution of the mission. “I want to thank the men and women of our military for achieving such extraordinary success overnight with breathtaking speed, power, precision, and ability. Something like this is rarely seen,” he said.
He also indicated that the U.S. plans to manage the situation in Venezuela until a “safe, appropriate, and wise transition of power” occurs. “We are there now, but we intend to stay until there is a proper transition. Basically, we’re going to do that until we have a proper transition,” he outlined.
Before his announcement on Truth Social regarding the capture of Maduro and Flores, explosions could be seen in Caracas. He shared a photo of Maduro, blindfolded and holding a bottle of water, on board a ship shortly before the press conference began.
