A Charlotte man has been charged with more than 15 counts of voyeurism. WJZY. John H. Cutter, 61, was reportedly caught videotaping minors in a stall at Bojangles’ Coliseum.
Investigators say a father, his 11-year-old son, and the son’s 12-year-old friend were at the venue to watch a Charlotte Checkers hockey game. The three arrived at the venue around 4:20 p.m. and went to the bathroom before taking their seats. The father and son were waiting for the friend to finish using the restroom when the father discovered a hand and what appeared to be a GoPro camera under the stall the friend was in.
After the friend relieved himself in the bathroom, the father confronted Mr. Cutter about the alleged incident. According to reports, Cutter denied the charges and left.
Cutter’s description was immediately relayed to authorities. Authorities reviewed surveillance footage and found Cutter going in and out of the bathroom before the hockey game. He was in the bathroom for about eight minutes, left for four minutes, and then went to another bathroom for about the same amount of time, the report said.
Authorities used surveillance footage to track Cutter’s car and locate his address. On March 7, authorities showed up at Cutter’s home with a warrant and took several electronic devices. queen city news.
Police found seven videos on the recording device, totaling about two minutes of footage. It was revealed that Cutter was recording a minor with his genitals exposed in the bathroom.
As a result, Cutter was charged with 11 counts of felony voyeurism and three counts of misdemeanor voyeurism.
WSOC report Some parents who live near Cutter said they have had to talk to their children about the dangers of going outside alone. “It’s unsettling. It makes me think about who lives around me and who I can trust,” said one neighbor.
“You shouldn’t go out alone. You shouldn’t go into other people’s houses,” the neighbor added.
Cutter was previously registered as a sex offender after being convicted in 1999, but was deregistered in 2011, according to court documents.
