NYC man rescued after NYPD officers jump down onto Bronx subway tracks

Dramatic body camera footage captured the heart-pounding moment two NYPD officers raced through a Bronx subway station to rescue a man who had fallen onto the tracks during a medical emergency.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the 3rd Avenue/149th Street station during rush hour, two of New York’s finest from the 47th Precinct burst into the station.

The man, who was having a seizure, reportedly landed inches from the dangerous third rail as the train rapidly approached the concourse.

One of the officers was able to enter the platform thanks to a passenger who opened the emergency exit gate, but the other was forced to jump over the turnstile.

“Despite the immediate danger, @NYPD47Pct officers sprung into action and had no hesitation in pulling him off the tracks.” the NYPD said.

“Come on, come on, come on,” one of the officers shouted, grabbing the man and pulling him off the tracks with the help of several onlookers on the platform.

The police followed him and tried to flee the tracks, but one easily jumped onto the platform while another brave officer struggled to escape danger.

The heroes’ work did not end there, and they went to take care of the sick man who was lying there.

As police investigated how the man fell onto the tracks, one of the officers asked, “What’s your name, friend?”

“He fell off the tracks and we pulled him out, but he was having a seizure. “I thought a train was coming, I thought a train was going to hit me.”

After the ordeal, the officers received praise from several people at the station.

“You saved a life,” one man said.

A woman sitting outside on a bench near the ambulance added: “They both risked their lives to jump onto the tracks to save his life.”

“Everyone did a great job. You did a really, really good job.”
