New York City is suing President Donald Trump's administration for more than millions of dollars related to protecting city immigrants.
The legal debate filed Friday says the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved and paid about $80 million, but the funds were later removed from the city's bank account, Fox News. It has been reported Saturday.
Defendants list the lawsuit name For each NBC New York, Trump, Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent, and Homeland Security Secretary Christineome:
“At 4:03pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Federal Government's Long Arm arrived at a central bank account in New York City (the “City”) and won 80,481,86 L.42. [sic]. “They took these funds from the city without informing them of decisions or basis for the city, and without prior notice that it would do so,” the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit alleges that Trump is “responsible for his actions and decisions” and that he is being sued for his official capabilities as president.
On February 10, Breitbart News reported that Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had found $59 million FEMA payments for illegals to housing in a “luxury hotel in New York City.”
The article states, “The payment came after the Biden administration claimed that FEMA was not using funds to support illegal foreigners. 'It's just categorically wrong. That's not true “Former White House press secretary, Carine Jean Pierre, told reporters in October.”
Following Musk's announcement, Noem said, “According to the full payment that FEMA Deep State Activists unilaterally gave to NYC immigrant hotels.”
According to Fox Report, when Biden was still president, the city was awarded two grants. One was over $58 million and two seconds was over $21 million.

The payments came under the Shelter and Services Program (SPP), which Congress allocated $650 million last year to help local governments respond to the immigration crisis. In a statement on the lawsuit, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said, “After the city has spent more than $7 billion over the past three years, the $80 million that FEMA has approved, paid and subsequently withdrawn, is At the very least, our taxpayers are worthy.”
“That's why our city residents work to ensure they get all the dollars they ow,” he added.
