NYCFC Targets Christian Pulisic After World Cup
New York City FC is looking to create some excitement following the World Cup.
The Major League Soccer team is interested in potentially signing American soccer sensation Christian Pulisic, as confirmed by reports on Wednesday.
If this move goes through, Pulisic would join NYCFC, a club that has previously boasted stars like Frank Lampard, David Villa, and Andrea Pirlo.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club may be ready to offer Pulisic a contract worth around $10 million, although there hasn’t been independent verification of this amount.
Currently, Pulisic’s team, AC Milan, seems uninterested in keeping the 27-year-old striker on board, though other MLS teams might step in if circumstances shift.
Pulisic is actively participating in the World Cup and made an impression during the USA’s opening match against Paraguay. Unfortunately, he had to exit at halftime due to a left calf injury and didn’t feature in the subsequent game against Australia, which the US won 2-0.
He mentioned to reporters on Wednesday that he feels ready to return for the upcoming match against Turkey in the group stage.
While NYCFC, like other MLS clubs, is currently on pause during the World Cup, they’re in a notable situation. The team is in contention for the playoffs and preparing to transition to a new stadium next to Citi Field in Queens by 2027.
Bringing in Pulisic could significantly enhance the team’s visibility and appeal moving forward.
Despite initial hopes, Pulisic didn’t quite find his rhythm at Milan after December, finishing the Serie A season with eight goals and six assists.
