Obama says Trump ‘not considered a serious guy’ in New York

In a new podcast, former President Barack Obama accused former President Donald Trump of not being considered a “serious man” in New York City. Trump spent most of his time in New York City growing his reputation and business before going to the White House.

On his podcast “SmartLess,” President Obama was asked by co-host Jason Bateman if he was surprised that “protection and passion for democracy has waned so quickly” in recent years. President Obama responded by pointing out that this trend began when former President Clinton was in the White House and accelerated during his presidency.

“I was surprised that there were no guardrails within the Republican Party. I wasn’t surprised by Trump,” he said before taking aim at Trump.

“I mean, he’s from New York. There’s no one in New York who would do business with him or lend him money. He’s not considered a serious guy here,” Obama said. added.

President Obama appeared with Clinton and President Biden on the latest episode of the TV show. “SmartLess” podcast. The three presidents recorded a podcast on March 28 in New York City.

President Obama went on to explain that he thinks more Republicans will say that some of President Trump’s actions have gone too far.

“But while I was surprised that he was elected, I wasn’t surprised about his actions. I expected you to agree with this, Bill and Joe, and I think the Republican Party I thought there would be people inside me who would say, “No, I can’t go that far.” “You can’t start praising President Putin and saying his intelligence is better than U.S. intelligence,” he said.

President Trump is currently embroiled in a number of legal battles, including two in New York. He will spend most of the next few weeks in a Manhattan courtroom in a hush money trial in which he is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Mr. Trump has railed against his hometown of New York in recent years, even though the city is where he first grew his business and built his reputation. He then changed his residence from New York to Florida in 2019.
