Off-Duty FBI Agent Shoots and Kills Illegal Immigrant at Homeless Camp

An off-duty FBI agent fatally shot an undocumented immigrant in Chicago after witnessing him firing at a homeless encampment, the FBI confirmed to the Caller.

The individual, Venezuelan migrant Oscar Daniel Isaya Corrales, was killed Monday night when he began shooting into the encampment. The Daily Caller learned that Isaya Corrales entered the U.S. illegally through the Southern Border in October 2023, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

“This incident highlights the consequences of the extreme open-border policies,” remarked White House Spokeswoman Lauren Bis. She criticized the Biden administration for allowing what she called a “criminal illegal alien” to roam freely in American communities, mentioning that he had been released from jail by Illinois sanctuary officials after a previous arrest.

“This repeated offender should never have been able to commit such a violent act,” Bis continued, calling the FBI agent’s response courageous and lifesaving.

Importantly, the DHS noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was “not involved in the incident on Oct. 26th.”

According to an FBI spokesperson, around 5:30 PM on October 26, the off-duty agent noticed an individual shooting into a crowd near West 18th and South Union Avenue in Chicago, firing at least two rounds. To neutralize the threat, the FBI agent intervened, resulting in the individual’s death.

In a post on X, the DHS highlighted Isaya Corrales’ previous criminal history, which included arrests for offenses such as domestic violence, property damage, felony retail theft, driving with an expired license, possession of marijuana, and various traffic violations. The post stated that he entered the U.S. illegally in October 2023, and a detainer was lodged by ICE against him in December 2025. However, officials in Blue Island, Illinois, reportedly ignored this request and released him, allowing him to commit further crimes. “God bless this FBI agent for their heroic action,” the DHS concluded.
