Ohio GOP gubernatorial candidate Ramaswamy lays out vision to take state to “next level”

Ohio Republican governor candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has President Donald Trump in his corner. And his big vision of taking the state to “the next level” is filled with plans to stimulate education, harness the possibilities of energy, and stay home in an American dream.

“People talk about rusty belts. I don't want to talk about rusty belts. I want to lead us to the platinum belt,” the former 2024 presidential candidate told Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures. “The future sectors from semiconductors to nuclear energy and even AI, and the way I think about this, as if Silicon Valley has been on the path of the American economy for the past decade, I want to make sure it's the Ohio River Valley for the next 10 years.

Trump has made important support as governors of both countries in the 2026 governor race with Ohio's Lamaswamy and Florida's Rep. Byron Donald.

Lamaswamy announced his bid to take DeWine's place at a rally in his hometown of Cincinnati last month to see DeWine at the governor's mansion.

Trump's 39-year-old allies recently secured separate support from the president and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. He was currently heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Ramaswamy once was to lead with him, but he came before Trump's inauguration in January.

If elected, Buckeye's Lamaswamy plan will address increasingly critical ages in AI data centers, focusing on “met-based pay” for employees in the education field, highlighting school choices, emphasizing reading, and helping students set new standards to embrace the “drill baby drill” message.

“I hope to lead Ohio to the best nation in the country, generate wealth, raise young families, and give your children a world-class education,” he said. “We want to transform our nation into a kind of economic region at the heart of the country. There is no red tape without bureaucracy. A nation where America's dream is actually the birthright of our children.”
