According to Ohio authorities, a tractor-trailer driver discovered the stowaway during a pre-departure inspection in May and rescued the kitten from the trailer’s wheel well.
“Hiram Police Department officers are pleased to have been able to assist with the rescue of the frightened kitten and are pleased that the incident was resolved without any injuries to this furry feline,” Sergeant Bridget Matte with the Ohio State Highway Patrol told Fox News Digital in an email.
“We also thank our colleagues who assisted with this rescue, including OSHP dispatchers, Ohio Turnpike maintenance crews, Interstate Towing, Portage Animal Rescue League and mandated DOT pre-departure inspections of commercial vehicles,” he added.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol shared body camera footage of the rescue operation on social media.
The message that played before the video read, “Mission Impossible.”

“On May 14, 2024, during a pre-departure inspection on a toll road in Portage County, Ohio, a commercial truck driver discovered an inquisitive kitten trapped between the tires of a large trailer.”
Portage County is located in northeastern Ohio near Akron.

“Check out the impeccable teamwork used to rescue a trapped kitten, who was then handed over to our friends at the Portage Animal Rescue League,” the video message said.

The dark grey and white kitten was found stuck between the wheels of a truck.
One of the kitten’s rescuers said in the video that the kitten’s claws were stuck in the tire, making it unable to escape.
“He really [doesn’t] “I want to get out of here,” the man can be heard saying in the video, before adding, “Please!”
She was unable to escape as her claws were caught in one of the tires.
Several men wearing protective gloves stood by to catch the kitten if it tried to escape after it was released from the wheel well.

However, the frightened kitten remained motionless even after the tire was removed.

She was captured without incident and transported in a cardboard box to the Portage Animal Rescue League shelter.

An unidentified woman seen in the video told the truck driver that the kitten was likely looking for a place to hide when it got stuck in the gap between the wheels.

“Luckily, we found her before she drove off,” she told the driver.
Portage Animal Protection League Executive Director Charan Rowley told Fox News Digital the kitten was adopted in mid-June and is doing well.
