Olive Garden is offering free food — if you're aware of this secret

Olive Garden is rolling out an appealing offer—free desserts for those who sign up for their loyalty program, eClub.

Fans of the “Endless Pasta Bowl” can now enjoy a complimentary dessert on their birthday by joining this program.

The free dessert option is part of multiple budget-friendly initiatives the chain has introduced, especially pertinent as grocery bills and restaurant prices climb. Industry analysts believe this could connect well with consumers watching their spending.

“The restaurant industry is grappling with a significant challenge: the decline in foot traffic,” remarked David Henkes, a senior principal at Technomic, a firm specializing in restaurant research and data.

“Dining out has become a financial strain for many people,” he added.

To snag a free dessert, customers will need to present a digital coupon and, of course, place an entree order.

This sweet deal could save diners about $8.50, according to the restaurant.

Besides the birthday treat, Olive Garden’s eClub also offers exclusive deals and updates based on customer preferences, as noted by Darden spokeswoman Haley Fitch.

Earlier this year, Olive Garden made headlines when a TikTok video showed an Italian student being taken to the restaurant “against her will.” While she initially struggled with the experience, she found herself coming around to the chain’s offerings like breadsticks and calamari, albeit with some feelings of “betrayal” toward her roots.

Among other promotions, earlier this year, the chain ran a “buy one, get one” pasta deal which allowed diners to choose from seven classic dishes priced between $15 and $22.

Olive Garden, part of the Darden Restaurants group—which also includes Yard House and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse—seems to be navigating this affordability crisis by offering enticing incentives for customers, while effectively gathering customer data to refine their marketing strategies.
