CHICAGO — Former President Trump has repeatedly claimed Vice President Kamala Harris is an ultra-liberal and has insulted her by calling her “Comrade Kamala” in the month since she took the lead in the race to replace President Biden as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
But Harris’ key supporters argue that the former president’s attacks will not sit well with American voters.
“That boat doesn’t float. It just doesn’t float,” Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) told Fox News Digital on Thursday, hours before he was to accept the vice presidential nomination on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Booker, a key ally of Harris in the Senate, pointed to a bill he co-authored with the vice president that was passed by Congress and signed into law.

“I know we’ve worked on things together. It’s not the flashy stuff. It’s cleaning up the environment. It’s reducing cancer deaths. It’s helping farmers. There’s a lot of very practical things she’s worked on, and a lot of it is bipartisan,” Booker said.

Booker also said Trump was “an obstacle to solving real problems. Kamala Harris is the antidote.”
Wes Moore, a rising Democratic star and first-term governor of Maryland, was also asked about Trump’s efforts to portray Harris as a far-left politician.
“I’ve learned not to spend too much time listening to the stupid things Donald Trump says,” Moore said.
“What you’re going to hear from the vice president tonight is a real vision of how we’re impacting everyday working families,” Moore predicted.
Harris gathered in the arena where the Republican Party held its convention a month ago.
He then argued, “What we’re hearing from Donald Trump is insults, and people are going to decide that’s not the America they want to live in. The America we want is bigger, better, greater than that. And that’s why I’m confident Kamala Harris will win in November.”
J.B. Pritzker, the two-term governor of Illinois who was the leading candidate to be Harris’ running mate, told Fox News he would campaign on Harris’ behalf in the final stretch leading up to the November election.
“I’m going to be in battleground states, addressing Democrats and independents in places like Arizona, for example. That’s just one of many places I’m going to be visiting,” Pritzker told Fox News Digital on Thursday.

Pritzker is also scheduled to campaign for Harris and lower-ranking Democrats in battleground state New Hampshire on Labor Day, according to a report first published by Fox News last week.
The governor emphasized, “I need the public to understand that this election is the most important election of our lifetimes. I literally mean that.”
