One man dead after being stabbed in ‘targeted attack’ in Melbourne park | Australia news

A man has died after being ambushed and stabbed during a late-night knife fight in a park in Melbourne's west.

Police were called at around 11.30pm on Friday to reports of a group of people fighting in a park on Haynes Drive, Wyndham Vale.

A 24-year-old man from the same suburb was found with stab wounds and was treated, but died at the scene.

Two other 27-year-old men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detective Inspector Paul Lloyd said 12 men in four white cars pulled up to the park where a group of seven other men had gathered.

“[It was] Instant. They jumped out and ran and an argument started,” he told reporters.

“It seems like they were clearly targeted, the way they showed up; [have] I just went straight there. ”

A 24-year-old man from Manor Lakes and three men from Windham Vale, two 26-year-olds and one 28-year-old, were arrested nearby and will be interviewed by investigators on Saturday.
