Authorities are reporting that there have been 20 casualties from a shooting at an Announcement Catholic School in Minneapolis.
According to reports from Reuters, two individuals have died in the incident, and the shooter has also been confirmed dead. Officials indicate that the situation is under control and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Press conferences are anticipated to take place soon.
Witnesses noted the presence of an armed individual dressed in black at the scene. Emergency services are mobilizing for a large-scale response. President Trump has been informed about the situation, and the FBI is also on-site.
“During the first week of school, we should be praying for the children and teachers who have been affected by this terrible act of violence,” said Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in a social media post.
A Minnesota Senator condemned the shooting as well, expressing appreciation for first responders on the scene.
In other matters, a 50% tariff imposed by Trump on imports from India took effect on Wednesday morning, following months of warnings about “serious consequences” for Russian oil and gas trading partners.
This unexpected tariff comes as Trump continues to push for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine after meeting separately with leaders from both nations earlier this month. The relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reportedly strained during Trump’s second term.
Additionally, the Trump administration placed several employees of the Federal Emergency Management Agency on leave after they signed a letter opposing the agency’s policies earlier this week. Over 180 current and former staff members added their names, although many did so anonymously.
Trump also intensified discussions about tackling crime in the nation’s capital, stating on Tuesday that he would support the death penalty for specific murder cases, indicating a willingness to collaborate with Congress on a “comprehensive” crime bill soon.
A meeting between Trump and Vice President Vance is scheduled for lunch later on Wednesday.
In context:
- The movement’s focus is increasingly on the Governor’s Mansion.
- Russia’s claims regarding Ukraine’s security concessions appear unconvincing.
- Public parks and museums are being viewed as battlegrounds in a new cultural conflict.
