Open Borders Are About Giving Democrats Future Voters

Thomas Homan, a former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said Democrats' support for open borders is driven by their “political future” in viewing illegal aliens as potential voters.

At a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing this week, Homan was quoted by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) as saying President Joe Biden would release millions of foreign-born people in the country. He was asked what the motivations were behind pushing the population closer to 50 million. An alien who is illegally present in the interior of the United States.

Homan, who is also a visiting fellow at the Heritage Foundation, suggested that Democratic political will is driving the open borders agenda.

“President Biden voted for building the border wall. He voted for the Secure Fence Act. Why did he stop building it? This is political. Others There's no reason,” Homan said, adding:

I ask someone, what's the downside to having less illegal immigration? What's the downside to having secure borders? What are the downsides of fewer women being sexually assaulted? What are the downsides of fewer children drowning in rivers? What is the downside to less fentanyl coming into this country and thousands of Americans getting killed? What are the downsides to reducing human trafficking of women and children and sex trafficking? What's the downside to not making millions of dollars with cartels? [Emphasis added]

[Democrats] They're obviously thinking about some kind of political future, politics that will benefit them in the future. People say, “Maybe they're Democratic voters.” One thing I do know is that President Biden also reversed Trump's census rules, which means millions of these people will be counted in sanctuary cities in the census. . What does that mean? That means more seats in the House of Representatives …so I don't know [emphasis added].

In fact, as Mr. Homan pointed out, former President Donald Trump only changed the apportionment of Congress to deny more House districts to major left-leaning cities simply because of sanctuary policies that attracted illegal immigrants. The goal was to exclude illegal aliens from the Census Bureau's count. .

At the beginning of 2021, Biden announced He said he would overturn that rule and then include illegal aliens in the count that allocates each state's congressional districts.

Democrats “support non-citizens being able to vote. … That's just the left place. … I always get it: 'Why would they allow a situation like this to happen?' said Jordan:

The way I see it, we're on pace to reach 12 million immigrants under the Biden administration. That's the scale of this phenomenon. This is equivalent to the entire population of our state, Ohio. — 7th largest state…this is an incredible number. … I think it is done intentionallyAnd I think the American people want to know, and more importantly, I think they want it to stop. [emphasis added].

The Biden administration's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will handle nearly 5 million border crossers in just three years, according to the latest estimates from Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. Accepting illegal immigrants into American society.

“Hundreds of criminal illegal aliens are being released into our communities, and cities and states are spending billions of dollars on illegal aliens arriving every day instead of on their own citizens,” Homan said. . I have written In his written testimony.
