Confrontation with ICE Officers in Salem, Oregon
On Saturday, tensions escalated in Salem, Oregon, as groups opposed to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeted officers in a parking lot. This confrontation unfolded while ICE was performing enforcement operations near a Walgreens on Lancaster Drive.
According to reports, some members of anti-ICE networks engaged in disruptive activities and, alarmingly, some were armed. This prompted officers to use crowd control measures, including tear gas and pepper balls, as captured in video footage from bystanders.
One clip showed a protester, dressed in dark clothing, swinging a baseball bat at a black SUV’s side mirror while another individual yelled at the officers to leave Salem. Shortly after, one of the SUVs was seen pushing aside a silver vehicle in the commotion.
Reports indicated that individuals believed to be associated with Antifa were present during the incident. Notably, the group was designated as a domestic terrorist organization by President Trump in 2025, citing their involvement in political violence aimed at disrupting lawful activities.
Furthermore, it was revealed by federal sources that local and state law enforcement did not assist in containing the situation with the armed rioters, leaving ICE agents to fend for themselves. “We are on our own,” stated the sources, highlighting concerns over safety and support.
In a related video, officers appeared to be engaged in a struggle with a group surrounding them outside a gas station, with protesters waving foreign flags at their vehicles. Reports suggest that ICE activities have increased recently in Oregon, which has not gone unnoticed by local anti-ICE activists. This uptick in operations comes as the Trump administration focuses on locating and deporting dangerous undocumented individuals.
Notably, reports have emerged that ICE has apprehended individuals involved in serious crimes, including child sexual abuse and drug trafficking.
