Pennsylvania Fans Sport Charlie Kirk T-Shirts at Football Game
During Saturday night’s football match against Oregon, many fans in Pennsylvania were spotted wearing t-shirts that said “free,” associated with Charlie Kirk. Social media buzzed with photos and videos of students flaunting these shirts.
Oregon, which is Kirk’s favored college football team, edged out a dramatic 30-24 win. In a nail-biting overtime, defensive back Dylanteen Man secured the victory with game-winning interceptions, all while thousands of fans in Kirk’s signature shirts cheered on.
Benny Johnson, a conservative influencer, organized an event that distributed 5,000 shirts in the Beaver Stadium parking lot before the game. Videos shared by Johnson showed a long line of fans eagerly waiting, some excitedly chanting “America!” as they stood in line.
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) also planned to give away these t-shirts to fans attending the Oregon versus Pennsylvania game in University Park, Pennsylvania.
Kirk had been seen wearing the iconic shirt previously, on September 10, during an event at Utah Valley University that was tragically marred by violence. A shooting from a nearby building took the life of a 31-year-old husband and two fathers, an event that left the nation reeling. In response, TPUSA renewed its commitment to the causes that Kirk passionately championed.
Johnson emphasized that this game was important and that the spirit of Kirk would be honored. He mentioned, “This is going to be a massive game, one that Charlie Kirk loved so much,” showcasing both his admiration for Kirk and the excitement surrounding the event.
Kirk’s memory has been a focal point at recent football events since his death earlier this month. Oregon’s head coach, Dan Lanning, expressed his condolences to Kirk’s family during a press conference, touching on the broader issues of violence in society. He noted how diverse teams, regardless of background, could unify and support one another.
In a heartfelt comment, Lanning highlighted the heartbreaking reality of ongoing violence, revealing how challenging it is to discuss this topic within their own families, which resonates deeply with many today.
