‘Original Sin’ author shares that Biden team was surprised by media coverage

Biden’s Health Under Scrutiny in New Book

The co-author of President Joe Biden’s recent book, “The Original Sin,” has revealed that insiders close to Biden were taken aback by the extent to which they could sidestep certain media scrutiny. Axios reporter Alex Thompson, who collaborated with CNN’s Jake Tapper on the book, shared insights from a conversation he had while working on it. It seems there were expectations of blame directed at various factors during this discourse.

Released on Tuesday by Penguin Press, “The Original Sin” sheds light on efforts by the Biden administration, lawmakers, wealthy donors, and public figures to conceal the reality of Biden’s mental and physical health decline.

Thompson expressed a belief that journalists perhaps weren’t diligent enough in their questioning. “In many ways, the media wasn’t skeptical enough,” he noted, suggesting that the White House might have misled the public.

Debates surrounding Biden’s health have intensified following a significant Wall Street Journal article that brought attention to his apparent mental decline. The piece mentioned observations of Biden stumbling over words and occasionally speaking so softly that it was hard to hear him. Some instances even raised concerns that he might have dozed off during events.

Interestingly, a former CNN analyst suggested that the media may have chosen to overlook these issues due to a bias towards the Democratic vote.

Another book, “Uncharted,” authored by Chris Whipple, recounts that Biden’s decline was noted well before Rep. Nancy Pelosi made headlines regarding cognitive issues. Whipple suggests that a family member who visited the White House in mid-2024 remarked on how much older Biden appeared, stating, “He wasn’t Joe Biden,” reflecting her shock.

Moreover, Biden’s recent prostate cancer diagnosis was disclosed on Sunday. Shortly thereafter, a spokesperson informed the press that a blood test conducted back in 2014 had screened for the same cancer.
