Over 242,000 Ford Maverick trucks recalled due to risk of tail light failure

Ford recently initiated a recall of more than 242,600 Maverick trucks due to an issue that could cause the taillights to not illuminate.

The Michigan-based automaker Safety recall report Police said Friday that recalled pickup trucks can “reduce visibility to other drivers in dark conditions and increase the risk of a crash” if their taillights do not illuminate. ) was submitted.

According to the recall report, a total of 242,669 Maverick trucks are subject to the recall, and are from 2022 to 2024 model years.

Manufactured between February 2021 and March this year.

Ford said in its report that the taillight illumination defect is related to the body control module in the recalled trucks.

It explained that the component could “falsely detect a current overload on one of both rear position lamp circuits” and disable them.

Ford first learned of the problem in early February, but there have been no accidents or injuries.

The report also states that the issue “does not affect the functionality of headlights, stop lamps (including center high-mounted stop lamps), or turn signals.”

As a remedy, affected trucks must “update to the latest level” of the body control module’s calibration through a software update.

Ford plans to notify dealers about the recall later Wednesday.

The automaker told FOX Business that the software update “will be ready by then, so customers could get the fix as early as tomorrow.”

According to Ford, the relief is “covered through mobile service, so customers can find a participating dealer who will send a technician to their home, work, or other location where they would like to perform a software update.”
