Car Crashes into Crowd in Hollywood, Injures Many
At least 30 individuals were injured when a vehicle drove into a crowd gathered outside a nightclub in East Hollywood. The incident involved a Nissan Versa that struck the group waiting to enter The Vermont Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard, leading to multiple injuries.
The collision occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday, with seven victims suffering from life-threatening injuries. Eyewitness accounts revealed that many were in line for an event billed as “So-Cal’s Biggest Reggaeton & Hip-Hop Party,” and notably, most attendees appeared to be women, according to LA Fire Department Captain Adam VanGerpen.
“They were all standing in line going into a nightclub. There was a taco cart out there, so they were… getting some food, waiting to go in. And there’s also a valet line out there,” said VanGerpen. “The valet podium was taken out, the taco truck was taken out, and then a large number of people were impacted by the vehicle.”
Prior to the incident, the suspect reportedly had been removed from a nearby establishment, but details about this location have not been disclosed, nor has the suspect’s identity been verified by authorities.
According to VanGerpen, the injured were taken to local hospitals and trauma centers for treatment. The scene saw a large response, with over 100 firefighters participating in the effort.
VanGerpen emphasized that the situation surrounding the crash is still under investigation, stating, “This is under police investigation. This will be a large investigation with the LAPD.”
In a display of community support, clubgoers rushed to aid the injured before emergency responders could arrive, showcasing a quick and compassionate response in a chaotic situation.
