A family in Utah County, Utah received a big surprise just in time for Christmas that was more than a decade in the making.
Laura and Cole Christensen adopted Misha, russian blue Cat, it's been 11 years since we built our first home. They adopted her because they needed a reliable cat in case rats came into their home from a nearby wetland, ABC 4 reported Friday.
But when she burst out the back door a few weeks later, her family was heartbroken. They searched long and hard for the missing Misha but were unable to find it.
In October of this year, the family experienced a miracle when Laura received an email from the company monitoring Misha's chip informing her that the cat had been found and was at a shelter in Lyndon.
At first, Laura thought the message was a mistake, but she began to realize that wasn't the case.
“I thought, 'Oh no, this has to be wrong.' Somebody messed up the chip or something happened.” And I literally went to the shelter, and sure enough, it was me. It was our cat,” she explained.
Misha seems to have endured many hardships during the years away from her family. She was very thin, her fur was unkempt, she had fleas, and the wound on her shoulder turned out to be a tumor. However, it was easily removed and she is on the road to recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Christensen are created GoFundMe page to support Misha's recovery.

“We hope to cover veterinary costs that cost several thousand dollars. Anything beyond that will go back to the great work of Best Friends Animal Society in Salt Lake City,” the fundraising page says. .
The family believes that either she had been in a field near her first home with the mouse for many years, or another family was caring for her.
“If I hadn't gone through that experience, I honestly wouldn't have believed it,” Laura said, recalling the incredible story.
According to Breitbart News, a similar case occurred in 2022, when a cat that had been missing for eight years traveled 3,000 miles to be reunited with its family.
