New data from the Howard University Polling Initiative offers insight into Black voter support heading into the 2024 presidential election.
A Howard University poll found that overwhelming majorities of black voters in seven battleground states support Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump.
The poll found that 82% of respondents supported Harris, compared with just 12% who supported Trump.

About 5% of respondents said they were undecided, while the remaining 1% said they planned to vote for either Harris or a candidate other than Trump.
The data shows significant differences across age groups.
About 89% of black voters over the age of 50 supported Harris, compared with just 8% who supported Trump and 4% who supported another candidate.

Among young black voters, Harris still overwhelmingly supported her (75%), but support for Trump doubled to 16% and support for an alternative candidate soared to 9%.
The age difference was most stark among men, with Harris winning 72% to 21% among men under 50, but 88% to 10% among men over 50.
The Howard University poll surveyed registered black voters aged 18 and over in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The poll was conducted between September 4 and September 11, with a total of 1,000 respondents and a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
Individuals were surveyed via landline telephone, mobile phone, and text web.
