Democrats may not approve of President Donald Trump's victory over the Capitol, but the vote shows that their members love it.
CBS News/YouGov Survey interviews a nationally representative sample of speech watchers shortly after Trump's joint speech to Congress, and the numbers please the poll president.
Opinion survey show A staggering 76% of Americans watching the speech were approved by Trump's comments, with only 23% (less than a quarter) disapproving it.
68% of viewers described Trump's speech as “hopeful,” with a majority describing it as “president,” “stimulating,” “unifying,” and “funny.”
The majority of Americans watching the speech also said the president spent much time on issues they care about, the investigation found.
More than two-thirds of viewers said Trump has a clear plan to deal with inflation that began under President Joe Biden. And more than three-quarters preferred Trump's plan for waste in government spending, as well as immigration and borders.
Moreover, almost a quarter preferred Trump's plans to deal with Ukraine and Russia despite the onslaught of negative coverage from founding media leading up to their speech.
Viewers of the president's address are usually severely distorted by those who identify with the president's party. However, only 51% of viewers were identified as Republicans.
Finally, over three-quarters of viewers approved that they ordered the sergeant to arms in Arms to disrupt the president's speech despite warnings.
