Palestinian migrants with terror ties caught at southern border: report

According to media reports, three Palestinian immigrants who entered the United States illegally through the southern border were detained after they were found to have terrorist ties.

According to federal law enforcement sources, New York Post One of the migrants had “indecent photos” stored on his mobile phone, including an image of a masked man holding an AK-47 rifle, the report said.

In addition to the Palestinians, one immigrant from Turkey is also suspected of having ties to terrorist organisations.

It is unclear which terrorist organisation the migrants allegedly belonged to.

Fox News Digital has reached out to border officials.

The migrants were part of a larger group that turned themselves in to the Border Patrol in the San Diego sector. They were being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force investigating their case.

Border Patrol agents in the San Diego sector are overstretched but don’t have access to criminal databases from other countries to properly vet migrants, said one unidentified agent, who spoke to the outlet on condition of anonymity.

“Knowing who these guys are, we don’t have access to anything international. We really can’t, and it’s kind of a shame,” the agent said. “I went into the Border Patrol hoping to protect the country from terrorists, but I ended up kind of letting terrorists into the country.”

Following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, San Diego border agents were warned to be on the lookout for anyone who may have ties to Palestinian terrorist organizations.

“The San Diego Field Office Intelligence Division assesses that individuals inspired by or responding to the current conflict between Israel and Hamas may attempt to bypass the Southwest border and travel to or from combat zones in the Middle East,” the previous alert said.

“Ideologically motivated foreign fighters and mercenaries may attempt to conceal their travel between the United States and Middle Eastern countries through Mexico,” the memo added.

It featured the insignia of various terrorist organisations, including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah.
