The dream of playing in the Super Bowl became a reality for a longtime Lions fan, but it came with some twists and turns for one family.

Chad Moody, who has been a Lions fan “basically since I was born,” told Detroit Local 4 News that his parents often took him to training camp with the Lions in the 1970s.

He'll be rooting for the 49ers on Sunday, but if Detroit wins San FranciscoDetroit Gear will be back soon.

“But if the 49ers lose, of course I'm going to take off my Lions gear and root for them in the Super Bowl,” Chad said.

Jake Moody completed 21 of 25 field goal attempts this season for a long 57 yards.

For Detroit's quarterback Jared Goff, a trip to Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium is a visit to hometown. Goff grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended the University of California, Berkeley.

“It would be fun to have a big game there, but I've played there a lot and I've got friends and family there,” Goff said with a shrug. “It's going to be cooler.”

The Lions and 49ers will kick off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
