U.S. Park Police Seek Help in Vandalism Case

The United States Park Police (USPP) has made surveillance footage public, asking for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which was recently renovated under President Donald Trump.

“The U.S. Park Police is seeking assistance in identifying the individuals pictured here in connection with a government property destruction investigation,” they stated in a social media update. “The incident took place on June 19, 2026, at around 3:36 p.m. at the Reflecting Pool on the grounds of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.”

The footage shows someone kneeling by the pool, extending an arm into the water. The individual has black hair and is dressed in a gray shirt and black shorts, carrying a handbag.

Trump has drawn an analogy between the Reflecting Pool and various hotel pools he’s familiar with, mentioning that a team has been hired to restore the monument with plans to coat the pool’s bottom with a sealant in “American flag blue.” Interestingly, he claims that the pool faced damage just weeks post-completion, hinting at algae issues in the water.

“They probably went down with a box cutter or some kind of sharp tool to cut and rip it apart. You know why? Because they’re sick people,” Trump remarked, discussing the new lining of the pool.

“These people should be in prison for a long time,” he added, suggesting the damage stemmed from what he termed “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Additionally, Trump suspects that someone poured harmful chemicals or acids into and around the pool, further indicating that the damage extended beyond just the immediate area.

“There’s a huge lawn area surrounding the reflecting pool. They poured acid on that lawn, probably the same people,” he noted, mentioning that repairs were underway for the damaged lawn.
