FBI Director’s Remarks on Covid-19 Origins Investigation
In a recent appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that the bureau has made “a big breakthrough” concerning the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic. This episode aired on Friday, and Patel emphasized that the FBI is actively continuing its investigation into the matter.
Patel’s comments pointed to the implications of this breakthrough for Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The director has faced heavy scrutiny for his handling of potential lab origins related to Covid-19. There have been accusations that Fauci attempted to obscure these origins, particularly around gain-of-function research, which has been a contentious topic among investigators.
The FBI has reportedly been trying to recover phones and other devices believed to have been used by officials during the Trump administration, particularly those connected to the unfolding pandemic.
While discussing the investigation, Patel suggested that any incriminating material might have been deleted but reassured listeners that something has been found.
In a conversation with Blaze News, molecular biologist Dr. Richard H. Ebright from Rutgers University expressed urgency on this topic. Ebright has been a vocal critic of what he terms Fauci’s role in both causing and concealing the pandemic, which he estimates has led to around 20 million deaths globally. This stands in stark contrast to the World Health Organization’s reported figure of over 7 million deaths.
Yet, some models put the actual excess mortality much higher, suggesting the number could be two to four times greater than official Covid-19 death counts.
Ebright, who has consistently called for accountability regarding the pandemic’s origins, referenced a 2020 paper in Nature Medicine that was used to promote zoonotic origins for the virus. He noted that if any files on Fauci’s devices document communications about the research or attempts to obscure the virus’s origins, they could prove significant in legal actions or accountability measures.
The FBI has not yet responded to requests for comment on this investigation.
In a separate exchange, Patel was asked about whether Biden’s potential pardoning of Fauci could provide him with some form of legal immunity concerning misleading claims made before Congress regarding NIH funding for gain-of-function research. Senator Rand Paul has called attention to these matters and has suggested that there appears to be a double standard when it comes to accountability.
This conversation highlights the complexities surrounding the investigation into Covid-19’s origins and the ongoing debates over accountability for those involved in the response.
