Is LeBron James on the verge of deciding where he’ll play basketball next season? A recent post from his former Lakers teammate, Patrick Beverley, has stirred the pot. Beverley hinted on social media that today might be the day for James to make an announcement.

“Rumor has it Bron will make his decision today!!!” Beverley posted, although it’s uncertain how much insight he actually has into James’ plans.

Just to clarify, James has felt increasing pressure to finalize his choice lately. In fact, NBA commissioner Adam Silver mentioned the importance of a timely decision to help finalize the 2026-2027 schedule.

On June 30, James notified the Lakers he would be finishing his NBA career elsewhere, which has now opened the floodgates for speculation as he enters free agency for the first time in eight years.

Recently, during an event in New York called Fanatics Fest, James remarked that he would “trust the process.” This statement seemed to both ease and heighten the rumors, leading fans to wonder if the 76ers might be one of the front runners for his services.

In addition to Philadelphia, he has also been linked to potential returns with the Cleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat. Surprisingly, there’s even chatter about him possibly teaming up with old opponents—the Golden State Warriors. Just last week, his agent, Rich Paul, joked that if James played alongside Stephen Curry, they’d probably end up with “60 nationally televised games.”
