Pay to go? Trump unveils a new strategy to eliminate illegal immigrants.

The Department of Homeland Security has rolled out a new plan aimed at addressing the immigration dilemma. Undocumented immigrants can now receive a $1,000 grant if they take an oath to leave the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem stated, “If you’re here illegally, self-deporting is probably the safest and most economical method to exit the country and avoid arrest.” Additionally, the DHS provides financial support and scholarships for illegal immigrants to assist their return via the CBP Home App.

Originally, the CBP Home App was known as the CBP One app, which helped undocumented individuals navigate their entry into the U.S. during the Biden administration. Now, under Trump, its focus has shifted to facilitating their exit.

Moreover, illegal immigrants are being offered complimentary airfare for their journeys home.

“It’s estimated that this initiative will save taxpayers significantly, given that over $17,000 is spent on arrests and detention, and forced removals cost approximately $4,500 per person,” noted Gonzalez. “From that perspective, $4,500 seems quite reasonable, especially when compared to the expenses of undocumented immigrants living indefinitely in the U.S.”

“You can come here, violate our laws, and evade capture. Yet, President Trump proposes, ‘Here’s $1,000 and a free flight back home.'” Gonzalez remarked, adding, “That’s probably more generous than I would be.”
