Pelosi reacts sharply to reporter's questions about National Guard deployment on January 6

Pelosi loses temper with reporters, tells them to “shut up!”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a heated moment on Wednesday at the Capitol. She reacted sharply when reporters asked her if she feared responsibility regarding a new committee examining the events of January 6, 2021.

One reporter pressed her on why the National Guard was not deployed during the Capitol riot, questioning her role in the situation. Pelosi’s response was emphatic. “Shut up! I didn’t refuse to send in the National Guard! The president didn’t send them in,” she said, referring to Donald Trump.

Alison Steinberg, a journalist from Lindell TV, asked Pelosi if she was concerned about being held accountable by the recently announced committee. After a brief pause, she repeated the question, pressing for an answer.

Pelosi’s aides tried to move her away from the confrontation, but the reporter continued, asking, “Why did you refuse to enlist in the National Guard on January 6th?” This prompted an intense reaction from Pelosi, as she turned to confront Steinberg directly, questioning her journalistic integrity.

After Pelosi departed, Steinberg remarked, “The American people want to know. I still have questions. Thank you.”

Pelosi and other Democratic leaders have faced criticism for their alleged lack of preparedness for the chaos that unfolded at the Capitol that day. The original January 6 House committee, formed in 2021, concluded its investigation with significant implications for Trump, resulting in multiple indictments. The ongoing debate continues to be marked by deep partisan divides over the true nature of the events that occurred.
