Pelosi Warns of Potential Election Interference

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently expressed her concerns regarding possible election fraud in this year’s midterms, suggesting that Republicans might resort to “false counting.”

In a recent interview, Pelosi, a Democrat from California, discussed the upcoming elections and urged voters to remain “vigilant.” She believes that there are tactics Republicans could employ to manipulate the midterm results.

During the interview, a reporter asked Pelosi about her confidence in the Democratic Party’s chances to reclaim the House and her concerns about the elections themselves.

“Always. We are always concerned,” she replied, emphasizing the need for protective measures. She noted that various methods can safeguard elections, including legal action and grassroots mobilization. However, she warned that Republicans might exploit technology to manipulate vote counts, contributing to an overall atmosphere of distrust.

On the Republican side, lawmakers are advocating for the Protecting American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE), which would mandate citizenship verification for all voters in the U.S. The bill requires individuals to provide a primary proof of citizenship, like a valid passport or birth certificate, and to show a government-issued photo ID when voting.

The House passed the bill with unanimous support from Republicans, although one Democrat opposed it.

President Donald Trump has also made pledges regarding election integrity ahead of the 2024 presidential election. He recently signed an executive order aimed at establishing a “state citizenship list” to ensure only American citizens can vote. This order also instructs the United States Postal Service to implement official markings for mail-in ballots and to add barcodes for tracking and identification purposes.

The SAVE Act accommodates mail-in voting for military personnel, travelers, and those with serious health issues that might prevent them from voting in person. Additionally, it permits married women to use a marriage license as a legal document for name changes when registering to vote.

Nancy Pelosi voiced her worries about the potential for vote manipulation by Trump and the Republican Party, stating, “We have to be on guard… They may try to sneak into the technology and create false counts.”
