Former Vice President Mike Pence has expressed his support for the recent airstrikes on Iran’s uranium enrichment facility, highlighting the importance of decisive action in this context. During an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum, he remarked on the contrasting views he has with former President Trump while praising the latter’s decisive leadership and the military’s professionalism. Pence emphasized the administration’s long-standing commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The US conducted airstrikes after Trump issued a warning to Iran, suggesting they had 14 days to address ongoing tensions stemming from conflicts involving Israel. Pence, despite previously critiquing some of Trump’s policies after their time in office together, lauded the recent military action, stating it was a continuation of prior strategies aimed at isolating Iran. He described the strike as a necessary response should Iran not comply with nuclear disarmament efforts.
Pence noted his confidence in Trump’s decision-making, insisting that if Iran did not dismantle its nuclear weapons program, the US military would act. He recalled thinking that if negotiations failed, decisive measures would follow, and that was indeed the case.
While Pence acknowledged ongoing assessments of the strike’s impact, he suggested that significant progress might lead to a peaceful resolution in the Middle East without relying on nuclear weapons. The situation remains fluid, with the potential for future discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities still in the air as tensions persist.
