Exclusive: Former Vice President Mike Pence has urged House Republicans to stick to hiking take on the country’s top operators as Fox News Digital says the White House is floating on a billionaire tax hike proposal.
American Freedom (AAF), a conservative policy advocacy group launched in 2021, is home to Jason Smith, R-Mo, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. and sent letters to Congressional Republicans, including Sen. Mike Crapo, Sen. R-Idaho, who wrote to Congressional Republicans, including advising them to “bear the hike.”
“President Trump and Republicans in Congress have committed to working to permanently act on tax cuts and employment, and to ensure further tax cuts. Republicans should not stick to their promises and pull pages out of Kamala Harris’ defeat policy platform,” AAF President Tim Chapman and board member Mark Short mention that they refer to the 2017 tax cuts and job act.

“The American people voted for tax cuts rather than tax cuts. American freedom urged Republicans to quickly renew the full tax cuts that were fulfilled on their promise to unleash prosperity during President Trump’s first term and make America prosper again,” they wrote.
“Trump Pence’s tax cuts have totally reduced taxes for families and businesses, big and small. The results were historic. We’ve been booming more than ever before and created more opportunities for all Americans. Republicans know that taxes are low.”

Two sources familiar with the debate told Fox News Digital that White House aides are quietly floating around a proposal to house Republicans, suggesting to raise tax rates for people who earn between $1 million and more than 40%. The plan aims to reduce the costs of Trump’s ambitious 2024 campaign, reducing overtime salaries, wages and social security taxes for retirees.
Sources have emphasized that the debate is preliminary, and the plan is one of many things that are being discussed as Congressional Republicans are working to advance Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.”
Pence Responded to a report on Fox News Digital On Wednesday, he urged House Republicans to resist the tax hikes of wealthy people.
“Republicans don’t raise taxes. Republicans cut taxes.” Pence responded X.

Pence has often criticised Trump’s second term policies. Most recently criticised Trump’s tariff uncertainty claims that even a 10% tariff will increase inflation and hurt American families. With a limited government call, Pence advocated that Congress would regain its authority over tariffs This week’s remarks.
Trump’s former vice president refused to support him in 2024. Pence, who himself launched the short-lived 2024 presidential election, unexpectedly dropped out of the White House competition during his remarks at the annual Republican coalition event in Las Vegas in October 2023.

However, Trump and Pence were seen waving at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter in December. Pence congratulated Trump on winning the 2024 election despite his refusal to support him.
Pence has distanced himself from his previous boss since the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and Pence ignored Trump’s hopes by confirming that former President Joe Biden had won the 2020 election correctly. The mob sought Pence to be hanged, and the former vice president has since faced the rage of Trump’s most loyal supporters.

The former vice president’s campaign failed to gain traction as Trump’s growing lead over busy Republicans.
Pence ran on a traditional, conservative platform, framing the Republican future against what he called the rise of party’s “populism.” Among the slim Republican anti-Trump base, Pence praised his courage that day. When Pence campaigned in Iowa and New Hampshire, Town Hall voters often thanked Pence for standing up to Trump.
