A 39-year-old woman faces serious allegations involving fraudulent documentation and many aliases while working in Pennsylvania’s nursing sector.
Shannon Nicole Womack is charged with various offenses, including forgery, identity theft, and procurement fraud, among others. Court documents suggest she misrepresented herself as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and nurse supervisor at various health and rehabilitation facilities.
According to investigators, Womack managed to secure employment via staffing agencies by submitting falsified documents. She even created a bogus limited liability company, as reported by the Pennsylvania State Police.
In April, state troopers conducted traffic stops of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in western Pennsylvania, during which Womack presented false identification. Further inquiries uncovered that she had around 20 different aliases and seven Social Security numbers linked to her.
Authorities believe her deceptive practices began in 2020 and extended to several states in the eastern US. While the specific motive remains unclear, it’s noted that she allegedly stole drugs from multiple medical facilities.
A spokesperson for the Pennsylvania State Police highlighted the case’s significance, noting it spans multiple states along the East Coast, possibly indicating a larger operation than initially thought. As court proceedings continue, more details on her motivations may emerge, although existing reports already indicate patterns of medication theft from various health facilities.
The spokesperson emphasized that the investigation not only concerns financial fraud but also the theft of high-value drugs, which plays a crucial role in their inquiries.
To aid ongoing investigations, Pennsylvania State Police, in collaboration with the Department of Health and several district attorneys, are urging local healthcare providers to review their employment records.
Womack has used several aliases in Pennsylvania, including Shannon Nicole Perham, Shannon Nicole Abiola, and a few others.
