A Pennsylvania family who lost their cat in a Minnesota car accident has finally been reunited with it, more than three weeks after the accident.
According to FOX 9 Minneapolis, the accident happened on Interstate 94 around 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 6. A semi-truck jackknifed on the highway, causing a three-vehicle collision.
Becca Hass, 24, was involved in the accident. Her cat, Roo (full name Rooster), a Russian blue, was with her in the car but fled the scene.

Hass’ injuries were not life-threatening, but he was heartbroken over the loss of his pet, FOX 9 reported.

“All I wanted to do was find him,” Hass told FOX News Digital.
The cat was found wandering near Monticello, Minnesota, 24 days later by a good Samaritan named Matt.
On Tuesday, Hass’ mother, Sharon, rushed to pick up the cat, which was underweight and missing teeth. She took him to the veterinarian’s office, where he was discovered to be Roo.
Hass told Fox News Digital that Lu was injured but is in good condition. He relaxed as soon as he got home.
“Lou sustained some injuries from the collision and outside injuries,” Hass said. “But all things considered, he’s in pretty good shape.”

“I couldn’t have recovered from the accident without Lou, but now I feel like I can finally go home with him,” she added. “I still have a few doctor’s appointments, but having him home has given me peace of mind.”

Hass said her mother extended her stay in Fargo to help find the cat. She also thanked Matt, the stranger who found her pet.
“I’m so grateful to Matt for being able to find Lou and reunite us,” Hass told FOX News Digital. “He healed my heart.”
“But so is the entire community who kept an eye out for him and sent in sightings,” she added. “I don’t think I would have been able to bring my baby home without you all.”

Hass’ mother, Sharon, told Fox News Digital that the family is “so happy that Lou is home.”
“I think Lou’s story is a miracle,” Sharon said. “He not only survived a tractor-trailer accident, but also survived 24 days alone in sub-zero temperatures.”

The family hopes their story will bring comfort to owners of missing animals.
“I hope it brings hope to those who have lost a pet,” Sharon said. She said, “Emotions go up and down every day.”
