FBI Arrests Pennsylvania Man Planning Mass Shooting
A 21-year-old man has been apprehended in Pennsylvania while allegedly preparing to carry out a mass shooting mission shortly after the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
According to the FBI, Jonathan Hunter Kramer from Valencia had been under investigation since 2023, as indicated by a press release from the Justice Department.
FBI agents observed Kramer purchasing ammunition and magazines from a local sporting goods store before searching his hotel room.
During the search, they reportedly found five boxes of rifle ammunition, three magazines capable of holding 30 rounds each, and a semiautomatic rifle along with additional ammunition.
Prosecutors allege that Kramer was planning the attack in support of the ISIS terrorist organization. “Kramer was taken into custody just as he was preparing for a mass shooting that could have taken many lives,” stated John Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for National Security. “His apparent ties to ISIS and the escalation toward violence indicate how close we were to a devastating attack. This arrest likely prevented a terrible tragedy.”
This isn’t Kramer’s first brush with the law; he was previously arrested as a minor for possession of child pornography while also being involved in a plot for a mass shooting. After his release from a juvenile detention facility in Pennsylvania, an anonymous tip in March 2026 alerted officials to his concerning behavior.
The tipster claimed that Kramer had received “mysterious packages” and had been communicating with friends he knew before his juvenile adjudication. Investigators subsequently uncovered his online identity, “Hamza Al Rashid,” in which he purportedly pledged allegiance to ISIS.
On Saturday, Kramer booked a cash payment hotel room in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, before his trip to the sporting goods store, as tracked by the agents monitoring him.
Authorities also discovered a prayer rug, pepper spray, and about 30 knives in his hotel room during the search.
In addition, a note with a puzzling message was recovered: “DoNt look For me[.] IDK what I did buT I cant live In constant Fear.”
Kramer has been charged with receiving a firearm and ammunition while knowing—or having reasonable cause to believe—that the items would be used to commit a felony or federal crime of terrorism, including providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
