Pennsylvania police fatally shoot wanted man outside of gas station

Police shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at officers who were trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant at a gas station in southern Pennsylvania.

Authorities announced Wednesday that an arrest warrant has been issued for 37-year-old Richard Bolen on charges including aggravated assault after he allegedly “brandished a firearm at a police officer” while fleeing a business.

State police said in a news release that Hanover police responded to Bolen’s SUV after it was spotted at a Sunoco gas station on Friday. Police said Bolen entered the gas station, jumped out the back, and circled to the front of the station with his handgun drawn.

When Bolen arrived in front of the gas station, he was confronted by more officers who pointed their guns at him, before the officers fired several shots, killing Bolen, authorities said.

York County prosecutors have asked state police to investigate, and the Hanover police officers who fired the shots have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
