Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick meets with IDF officials in Israel

Republican Dave McCormick, who is seeking to challenge Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania) in November, met with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Israel on Tuesday.

Axios reporter Barak Ravid posted photos of McCormick's trip on X, the social platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Today he met with Israeli Defense Forces personnel in Kfar Azha. He plans to meet with military leaders, government officials, and families of hostages. Sources said he met with Israeli Defense Forces personnel in Kfar Azha to show solidarity and They are there to understand the situation from the ground.” Ravid reported.

Mr. McCormick is a leading Republican candidate to challenge Mr. Casey in the state won by former President Trump in the 2016 election. President Biden then defeated President Trump in the Keystone State in 2020.

The race is one of several in which Democrats hope incumbents can defeat their Republican rivals to maintain their Senate majority.

Ravid also reported that McCormick's wife, Dina Powell, who served as vice national security adviser in the Trump administration, accompanied her husband on his overseas trips.

A spokesperson for McCormick declined to comment when contacted by The Hill about the trip.

McCormick, 58, lost the 2022 Republican Senate primary to TV celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) went on to defeat Mr. Oz in the general election, flipping key battleground seats in favor of Democrats and maintaining his party's control over Senate leadership.

McCormick announced in September that he would begin challenging Casey, 63, who has served in the Senate since 2007.
