Hegseth to Speak at Kentucky Event
Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth is set to address an event on Monday, joining candidates who are vying to challenge Republican Representative Thomas Massey in Tuesday’s primary.
America First Works (AFW) made an announcement over the weekend that Hegseth, along with former Navy SEAL Ed Gullane, will participate in an event in Hebron, Kentucky, themed “The Great American Comeback.” AFW President Ashley Hayek expressed enthusiasm for Hegseth’s appearance.
“This event will be a unique chance for Americans to hear from leaders of the America First movement and like-minded patriots who uphold the values that have contributed to our nation’s greatness. As we witness an unusual recovery, it’s crucial to protect these America First principles or risk losing our progress,” Hayek stated. “We are excited to partner with Hegseth and Gullane to bring this discussion of the ideas and values vital for America’s future to northern Kentucky.”
Massey, seeking his ninth term in the House, has had some disagreements with the Trump administration, particularly regarding the Justice Department’s management of files related to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and the president’s tariff strategies. He has also voiced support for Democratic calls to end Operation Epic Fury, the U.S. offensive against Iran that commenced on February 28.
Former President Trump has backed Gullane’s challenge to Massey, viewing Massey as a barrier to his political goals. Trump has called for a “good and decent” challenger to Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert, who has supported Massey in the contentious primary.
Trump commented, “The great people of Kentucky are wise to Massey. He only votes against Republicans, which makes it easy for the radical left.” He further referred to Massey as a “totally incompetent loser” and endorsed Gullane, urging voters to support him on Election Day.
Massey has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the situation.
