Phillips heralds Wisconsin Supreme Court order to put him on ballot: ‘Thank goodness’

Democratic presidential primary candidate Dean Phillips on Friday celebrated the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s order to put the Badger State on the Democratic primary ballot.

“Thankfully, democracy is protected by the judiciary, because political parties are eroding democracy right before our eyes,” Phillips said. Said in a post on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Continue to expose the truth and say the quiet parts out loud. Please join us. ”

Friday’s ruling said Democrats on the bipartisan presidential search committee should have discussed including the Minnesota lawmaker. The court’s decision means he will be on the ballot in the primary election in early April.

Phillips has vowed to challenge the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in several states after being barred from voting in those states.

“The unilateral disenfranchisement of ordinary Democrats, including the disproportionate number of Black voters who demand a more affordable America, is reprehensible,” Phillips said in a statement to Semaphore. “If Joe Biden is the best candidate to defeat Donald Trump and lead us to a safer, more affordable future, then his supporters will suppress and disenfranchise millions of voters. Let him compete for that privilege without depriving it.”

In late January, Phillips filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Elections Commission, insisting it be added after an early January meeting. He said the criteria to be accepted on the ballot was that a candidate must be “generally supported or recognized in the national news media.”

Last month, Phillips hit back at those who think he is hurting President Biden’s chances, saying they are overestimating his power.

“[Y]You’re giving me more power than I actually have,” Phillips said in an interview with NBC News White House correspondent Mike Memory. “The reason I did this is because Joe Biden is not going to win the next election. He was the only one who could have won in 2020. He’s probably the only one who could have lost in 2024. That’s probably it.”
