The shocking development prompted fans to post videos and photos on social media confirming the closure.
Patrons confirmed to Playing Through that beer sales have been suspended for the remainder of the day.
This past week, fans flocked to TPC Scottsdale in party mode. Videos of patrons who appear to be inebriated have surfaced on the course, including one showing them performing a front flip into the 16th greenside bunker.
It’s unclear whether those with tickets who didn’t make it to the gate will receive a refund or be allowed to participate in Sunday’s round. The tournament did not specify how long the gates would be closed, with more fans expected to be allowed in if enough fans left.
