ICE Operation in Charleston Results in Arrests

An operation led by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took place in Charleston, South Carolina, over the weekend, culminating in the arrest of numerous unauthorized foreign nationals believed to have ties to terrorism.

A press release from Homeland Security, which was reviewed by Blaze News, indicated that this investigation was conducted in conjunction with local law enforcement and focused on clandestine illegal nightclubs referred to as the Alamo.

According to the release, the Alamo was allegedly operated by “verified members of the Los Zetas Cartel,” which has been identified as a foreign terrorist organization.

ICE received information suggesting that the Alamo was a center for various illegal activities, including drug trafficking, arms dealing, and human trafficking.

As a result of this operation, ICE reported that 72 undocumented immigrants were arrested, and six children were successfully rescued and placed into protective services for their safety.

Officials also confiscated cash, drugs, and firearms during the operation. ICE noted that one of the individuals apprehended, Sergio Joel Gallo Baka, is described as a Honduran fugitive wanted for murder, with active interpol notices against him.

DHS Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin remarked on the dedication of ICE personnel, saying, “Every day, the brave men and women of ICE collaborate with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of American communities. The achievements in Charleston have led to over 70 arrests of undocumented individuals.” She went on to caution that “fugitives and lawbreakers have been warned: leave now, or ICE will find you and deport you.”
