Kidnapping Suspect Alert in Arizona
The sheriff’s office investigating the alleged kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie has issued a notice regarding another suspect wanted for kidnapping, this time just a few miles from the 84-year-old’s residence in Arizona.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Coral Michelle Smith, a 40-year-old with a lengthy criminal background. This case is reportedly about 11 miles from Guthrie’s home located in the Catalina Foothills.
Smith is accused of involvement in a kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon that took place on May 29 at the intersection of River Road and La Chola Boulevard in Tucson.
Authorities have urged local residents to stay vigilant regarding Smith, but they haven’t provided additional details about the incident. It’s also been noted that there’s no known connection between Smith and Nancy Guthrie, who is the mother of Savannah Guthrie from the Today show, and who vanished from her home early on February 1.
Throughout the years, Smith has faced multiple charges in Pima County, including kidnapping, assault, robbery, and disorderly conduct, leading to time served in four different prisons, according to court records. She was convicted of robbery in 2011, attempted vehicle theft and disorderly conduct in 2014, along with additional charges in subsequent years.
Notably, in 2019, she was involved in a case that included kidnapping and drug-related charges against a victim who was reported to be under the age of 15. However, those particular charges were dismissed later.
Smith has used various aliases, such as Coral Albright and Coral Albright Smith. Local news has reported on her situation.
Police have described her as being 5-foot-6, weighing 136 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Additionally, she has several tattoos, which include a smiley face and heart on her right ankle, a rose with a flame on her right foot, and the phrase “Love, Life, Family” on her left foot.
